Entry 21: Cyberwellness - Handling Inappropriate content

No, I have not seen anything online that make me afraid, uncomfortable or feel excited yet guilty at the same time because I sensed that it was wrong. I would log out from that website, ignore it and go to another website to play computer games. I will delete the the content that is inappropriate on the Internet immediately.

Entry 20: Cyberwellness - Cyber Addiction

My favourite computer game is Sorority Life on Facebook. I spend about one and a half hour on computer games and blogging daily. It has not affected my daily routine because I keep a balanced lifestyle. I will spend less time on computer to prevent cyber addiction. I would tell my friend to spend less time on computer or his/her results will drop.

Entry 19: Effects of Preventive Measures on Pupils

Hi class, I think that the school preventive measures is good because i know that the school is very concern about the students safety and is trying to do everything that they can. I think that the cancellation of CCAs have affected me a little because if i haven't go to my CCA for too long, i will feel very weird when i go back to my CCA. I don't think that my school is less interesting now because i know that my teachers are trying very hard to make the lessons interesting even when there is no H1N1 disease, so i feel that the school is not less interesting. My relationship with my teachers and friends were affected a little because i have not meet them for very long, so i might feel funny when i see them again. I read and study with the extra time i have now. My activities outside school have not been affected because i don't have many activities outside school.

Self-Discipline

" Shut up! You stupid woman!" Tom scolded his teacher. Tom was a boy who had no self-discipline. He never pass up his homework in time, bullies his classmates and always shout at his teachers and parents. Hence, everybody is afraid of him. He had no friends. All the teachers dislike him, except for one teacher.

That teacher's name was Mrs Tan. She thought that every student can have self-discipline. One day, Mrs Tan saw Tom tearing his homework into bits. She went forward and asked Tom what had happened. Instead of answering her, Tom throwed the bits of paper on her face and shouted" All the teachers are stupid!!!"and he ran away. Mrs Tan thought about what Tom said and asked the other teachers what happened. The teachers told her that Tom's Chinese teacher, Mr Lim had call him stupid. Tom was very agitated and ran out of the class. The next day, Mrs Tan asked Tom to meet her after school.

"Ringggggggg!" the school bell rang. Tom made his way to the staff room to find Mrs Tan. When he reached Mrs Tan desk, Mrs Tan was sitting there with a serious look on her face. Mrs Tan asked Tom to take a seat. Mrs Tan told Tom that self-discipline is very important. Every one should have it. She explained what is self-discipline. Mrs Tan told Tom a story about self-discipline. They spoke for three hours. When Tom went home, he went straight to his room. He saw his room in a complete mess and he realised that he had no self-discipline. The next day, Tom went to the staff room and thanked Mrs Tan for helping him.

From that day on, Tom worked hard in his studies. He got lots of friends after he turn over a new leaf. Tom learned that self-discipline is very important to everybody.

Entry 18: Reflective Time for Science (Light Energy)

My mother uses a table light at night to pack her bag while me and my sister sleep. My maid uses the light in the toilet to let her see the clothes that she is washing. My father uses the light to watch the television. I use the light to do my homework. My sister uses the light to play her toys.

Light help me and my family to see clearly, do my homework, use the computer, watch television and play toys.

Without light, we will be living in a world of darkness, we will bump into things or people easily and get hurt because we can't see without light, plants will die because they is no sunlight for them to make food and without food, plants will die.

Entry 17: Classroom Cleanliness

I think my classroom is clean because me and my friends help to clean the classroom sometimes. If the classroom is not clean, there will be pests and litter on the floor, we will not be able to concentrate in class. We sweep the floor and pick up litter. The activity that I participate in is sweeping the floor. I have learned from this activity that cleanliness is very important. The value that I have learned from this cleaning activity is Courage and Excellence.

Entry 16: Influenza A H1N1

Influenza A H1N1 is a virus spread by pigs. It spreads when people sneeze and cough without covering their mouth and nose. Countries in Asia like Japan, Philippines, Thailand and even Singapore are faced with cases of Influenza A H1N1. Countries are doing very hard to prevent Influenza A H1N1. These are some examples:
  • People wear masks when they go out.
  • People wash their hands thoroughly with soup and water.
  • People sneeze or cough into a tissue.
  • They avoid crowded places and stay at home.

I think that the temperatures taking is effective in preventing Influenza A H1N1 because it will be better to check our temperature regularly. Many people bring their hand sanitizer to clean their hands. I will check my temperature daily,do not go out when i am not feeling well and avoid sharing personal items with my friends and family.

Entry 15: SA1 Review

Yes. I think that i am tested fairly. I think so because everything i learned in school is tested in the SA1 papers. I think that i have done well for this semester but there are still parts that i am not good at. I think my results are good because i listen to the teacher during lessons. I think that the remedial and enrichment classes in school were useful although it was tiring to stay back after school. I think so because my results improved after i took the enrichment classes. I would read more books and do more assessment books. I think that the school can give more homework.

Olympic Values

Friendship
There were two friends named Mary and Anne. They were the best of friends. They were such good friends that they would share their food, sleepover at each others house and do everything together.
One Saturday morning, there was a knock at Mary's door. Mary went to open the door and to her surprise, there stood Anne with her face covered in tears. Mary ask Anne what happened and she just said " I can't play with you anymore" and left. Mary was very confused. After she washed her face and ate her breakfast, she went to Anne's house. She asked Anne's parent's what had happened to Anne and learned that Anne was strucked with brain cancer. Mary was very upset. Everyday she went to Anne's house to console her. One day, when she was outside Anne's house, she saw some people carrying Anne onto a stretcher and into a ambulance.
Mary rushed to the hospital and asked for Anne's room number. Anne's parent's said that Anne's condition has worsen and she needs an operation. They also said that the chances that she can survive is only 50%. Anne needs to wait three weeks for the operation. During this three weeks, Mary visited Anne everyday. Anne was touched by Mary's care and love for her. She promised Mary that she will be alright. Three weeks past and Anne went into the operating theatre. After two hours, the doctor came out.Everyone rushed to the doctor and asked how's Anne. The doctor told them that the operation went smoothly and she will wake up in a few hours time.
After a few hours Anne's eyes slowly opened. After a few days, Anne went home. She was very happy as she experience true friendship.

Entry 14: Kindness

I think kindness means that helping people and not hoping for a reward. It is important that people are kind because if people from all over the world are kind, there won't be too much fights in countries. People can show their kindness by helping a hand to old folks, doing good things but not hope for rewards. A act of kindness that i have done is that when i returned home from school last week, I waited for a old folk before i close the lift door. I would want to be kind in school, community or at home by picking up litter and throwing it into a dustbin. Although this kind act is not for the citizens but it is a kind act to the environment and Mother Earth.

Entry 13: International Friendship Day

We celebrate International Friendship Day because we are united. I am not very sure about how did International Friendship Day came about but i think that ASEAN stands for 10 countries such as Myanmar,Singapore,Thailand,Laos,Cambodia,Vietnam,Malaysia,Brunei,Indonesia and The Philippines. I like the activities organised by the school on International Friendship Day. I like it because the school invited a lady from Indonesia to explain things about Indonesia. There is one thing i dislike and that is, she kept saying that how small is Singapore. I think although Singapore is small, The citizens are very friendly. So, Singapore is counted as fortunate compare to other countries.I don't have any friends from the ASEAN countries.I think the school should invite more people from ASEAN to explain to us about their countries.

Entry 12: Improving the School

I like the Computer Lab best as it has air-conditioners installed on the ceilings. It can keep me cool when I am doing my blogging. I don't really dislike any parts of the school but I think that the toilet is usually short of toilet papers and some of the flushes is not working. I think they can provide more rolls of toilet paper and get someone to repair the flushes. I think they can also install some air-fresheners to make the toilet smell fragrant. During recess, when I am eating, I will see some sweet wrappers, tissue papers and biscuits on the floor. I see that the cleaners are trying very hard to clean the school but I still think they are quite slow. The school can consider employing more cleaners to make the school a cleaner place. Pupils can help to improve the school by picking up litters and throwing it in the dustbins and flush and wash your hands after you relieve yourself.

Entry 8: Review of T1 Target-Setting Exercise

The purpose of setting the targets is to help us strive very hard to achieve our targets.Yes,i think it is useful.I think so because when i feel lazy to do my work,i can use my targets to motivate myself to work.I set my targets according to what i score last year.To achieve my targets,i am going to listen to the teacher in class,do my work carefully and do assessments at home.My parents help me by correcting my mistakes, teaching me words i don't understand and teaching me homework that i don't know how to do.I will motivate myself by thinking that Mrs Tan will give out McDonald's voucher to us.I think my teacher can make the lessons fun and interesting.

Entry 7: Festivals in Singapore

We Chinese will celebrate Chinese New Year every year.We celebrate Chinese New Year as it marks a new year for us.We will buy many goodies such as peanuts, pineapple tarts, sweets, crackers and chocolate to eat.The festivals celebrated by other races are Hari Raya Puasa,Deepavali and Selamat Hari Raya. The people who celebrate Hari Raya Puasa and Selamat Hari Raya are Malays and people who celebrate Deepavali are Indians.Yes.I think it helps because we will celebrate with them and it can make our bonds stronger.I think we can do that by asking pupils of different races to work together.

Entry 6: March Term Break

My school arranges silent reading for us every morning. From Monday to Thursday,we will read a English book.On Friday,we will read a mother tongue book.I think the school gets pupils to read every morning because they want to help us improve our English and mother tongue. Yes,I like it because it can help me improve my English and i can do well in my exams and composition. Yes,i like reading.I like reading because it can help me expand my variety of words and can help me do well in my composition.I like to read mysteries books.I think reading can help me with my school work because it can help me with my composition. I think the school can encourage the pupils to read by adding more books to the library and holding a mini silent reading every day.I like to read megastar mysteries best. The author of the book is Annabelle Starr. I like to read her books because it is very creative as she added some French words in the story and her mysteries are always urging me to read finish the book as fast as i can as i want to know what happen at the end.

Entry 5: Activities Outside School

I have CCA provided by the school for us.I have joined the Brownie CCA. I spend every Friday with my Brownies mates and guides except for holidays. I spend 2 hours on my Brownie CCA every Friday. I joined this CCA partly because my mother was a guide when she was in secondary school.I also joined Brownies because i think that it is very meaningful as we help raise money for charity while we can also have fun. Yes,I think this activities are necessary as it helps other people, lets me enjoy myself and let me learn many values. I think that all my activities are not affecting my studies because it is on a Friday and i still have Saturdays and Sundays to do my homework.I feel a little stressed because the school is arranging too much work for us.I think pupils should be involve in outside school activities because they can learn many new skills.

Entry 4: Journey Earth Hour 2009

I think when all of us use electrical appliances such as fans, television, lights and computers. I think we can fight climate change by cutting down on electricity. We can do this by not watching to much TV or use to much light in the morning and afternoon. I believe that we can fight climate change if we work together to cut down the electricity used by us daily.

TDD 2009:Intra-level Blogging Competition

I think I could defend many things and people like the Malay,Chinese, Indian and the foreigners.I can also defend my friends , my neighbours',my school, the National Anthem, the Singapore flag and the Merlion. I think we should defend them because they are our country and is part of us.No matter what religion they are,as long as they are Singaporeans, they are part of us.I would defend them by helping them when they are in need and tell them if they are wrong.

Entry 3: My Visit to Thye Hua Kuan Hospital

Dear Mrs Tan,

I saw some injured and sick patients. Some people were crying too. There was a man that said he was run over by a motorbike. There was a man that was so happy that he shouted for joy!

After i saw all this patients, i felt very sad as they could not go home and celebrate Chinese New Year.I was feeling a little happy as the patients were on the road of recovery.

I learn that they were people that were less fortunate than me and i should do more for them. I will join more helpful activities to help the less fortunate people. This what i learn from my visit to Thye Hua Kuan Hospital.

I think i can offer my services to the community by being helpful to my neighbourhood and my friends.I can also do my part by asking others to be helpful to the community.

Yes. Students consider whether the activities has a same meaning like one of our school values.

We students can live up to the school values by trying harder.

I think the teachers can organise a mini competition to see who remembers the values best.

Entry 1: Blog Netiquette

Dear Mrs Tan,

I think that Blog Netiquette is about respecting other people's privacy, stealing and taking other people's copyright without the owner of the copyright permission. I think that i will be very angry with those people who use my copyright without my permission. I hope that everyone will respect people's privacy from now on.
